My recent visit to Mauritius can be described in one word - magical.

The island has an indigenous beauty & charm, that stems from the splendour of the sea, the mountains and the creole culture.

However the elegance I saw of Mauritius, comes from the spirit of the people and the professionalism of those in the hospitality industry. Everyone is very warm.

This was my second visit to Mauritius, yet it felt like my first. I think the difference was Le Touessrok.

The ambiance of the hotel with classic finishes and tropical hues makes it one of the most glamourous hotel experiences of my life, and I've been to lots of interesting places.

On arrival, I made a conscious decision not to announce myself as the Givenchy Spa Ambassador, yet the staff were fussing over us nonetheless.

The courtesy extended to me & my partner was telling of things to come.

We received personalised care, swift responses, accessible amenities, exotic foods and smiling faces, and all of this was standard practice at Le Touessrok.

I observed that this level of treatment was not designed to impress me, but was the ordinary conduct toward all hotel guests. That is the little bit, that goes a long way - thank you.

My hosts, the Givenchy Spa under the supervision of Corrine is simply the most salubrious setting I know of.

The spa has Chic finishes, which creates lovely calming-tones. As a highly strung journalist living in Johannesburg, you would understand how badly I need peace.

The treatments were healing for both mind & heart. I was introduced to many innovative massage techniques and I believe that the slimming cream works. Though, what I miss most is the citronel water, which is probably a Mauritian elixir........

I don't have sufficient words to express my gratitude for the magnificent gift given to me by World Leisure Holidays, Givenchy Spa and Le Touessrok. I know of more deserving candidates, but somewhere in the cosmos, the angels knew that my spirit, body, heart and soul needed to be revived and inspired, Mauritius did just that.
